Injury Prevention Day! 16 August 2017

February 2016 to May 2017: A period of my life when it would seem that I was permanently travelling between Worthing and Crawley on that wretched piece of road known as the A24.

I would often dream of the long queue at Washington, wondering which lane would be today’s ‘fast lane’, or how often I would be required to pull over when the driver behind was becoming a bit too familiar with the rear of my car. I was largely on first name terms with the many roundabouts along the way, a number of which were where some unfortunate clients of mine had injured themselves. It seemed a weekly occurrence that I would be pulling over to allow ambulances through, driving past the scene, hoping that it wasn’t as bad as it looked.

Those days are behind me now; I merely have to work on my patience levels when using the trains. But for any of those affected by such an accident, it is in no way an exaggeration to say that it can be life changing for them and their family.

This is why campaigns such as APIL’s long running ‘Back Off’ campaign are so important, and why it is being relaunched on Injury Prevention Day on 16th August. At Coole Bevis, we fully support APIL’s efforts in reducing unnecessary collisions caused by tailgating, and are delighted to highlight the campaign as much as we can.
